“Colorful Bubbles in the Forest” – Mysterious Cabin in Yamanashi, Japan

The colorful wooden cabin nestled in the forest is also known as the “Bubble in the Forest.” It resembles a fairy’s home, brimming with adorable and mysterious imagery that sparks curiosity about what goes on inside.

Stepping into Yamanashi Prefecture, connected to Tokyo, you can gaze at Mount Fuji and the Japanese Alps, with breathtaking mountain views all around.This forest cabin is located at the Risonare Hotel in Yamanashi, designed by renowned Italian architect Klein Dytham Architecture. The MokuMokuYu (もくもく湯) is actually an open-air hot spring that blends seamlessly with nature.“Moku” means wood, “Moku Moku” refers to steaming or boiling, and “Yu” means bathing. Huang Lizhen, manager of Taiwan-based travel agency Tang Gui-Zhen, the official agent for Hoshino Resorts in Taiwan, said: “The MokuMokuYu, which has won numerous design awards, was designed with the concept of countless bubbles floating in the forest, blending harmoniously with nature.”

The MokuMokuYu hot spring cabin, which looks like bubbles floating in the forest, officially opened on January 26, 2007. It can accommodate up to 40 people, with separate men’s and women’s baths. All are built from wood in interlocking circles, resembling bubbles.Notably, Risonare’s MokuMokuYu features an “open-air mixed-gender bath.” In the semi-circular communal pool, the scenery changes dramatically with the seasons.In spring, the lush green forest surrounds you as you soak and breathe in the fresh, blooming air; in autumn, the yellow and brown hues of withered trees accompany you, while the cool and warm waters provide complete relaxation for body and mind; in winter, if temperatures drop sharply, soaking in the MokuMoku hot spring pool with a silver-white snowscape before your eyes becomes the ultimate winter indulgence.
