As winter approaches and the weather turns colder, it’s the sweet season when strawberries turn bright red. Why not go strawberry picking this weekend? In addition to Dahu in Miaoli, Taipei’s Neihu is also a key strawberry-growing area in northern Taiwan. The number of strawberry farms open to visitors in Neihu has grown from just 7 or 8 to 18 today, offering plenty of choices. These farms have started opening for fruit picking from early December, with the season lasting until May of the following year—making it a great weekend leisure activity for locals in the north.

The main strawberry varieties grown in Neihu’s tourist farms include Neihu No. 1, Fragrance, and Taoyuan No. 4. Among them, Neihu No. 1 is the most widely cultivated variety in the area, known for its excellent taste and flavor—and nicknamed the "apple strawberry." Right now, Neihu’s strawberries are growing big and plump, bursting with sweetness, making it the perfect time for a picking trip. Aside from farm visits, there are also nearby attractions such as Bihu Trail, Baishihu Suspension Bridge, Dahu Park, and Bishan Rock, ideal for planning a one-day tour.
