The cute yellow duck makes a comeback — it crawls onto land and becomes a "land duck"

After urgently borrowing the "Kaohsiung version of the Yellow Duck" from Kaohsiung City, the yellow duck was fully inflated on the square on the morning of the 2nd. Over the next few days, the yellow duck will be on display at the square, becoming the first ever "land duck."

On the 1st, the duck deflated due to a leak. While technicians were inflating it on-site, a sudden increase in gusty winds averaging force 7–8 (with gusts up to force 9) caused the entire duck structure to be damaged and burst. To allow the public to continue enjoying the yellow duck, an urgent request was made to borrow the Kaohsiung version, which was granted. The yellow duck undergoing repairs in New Taipei City was also delivered to the Taoyuan Land Art Festival exhibition area on the afternoon of the 1st for testing, and was inflated on the square this (2nd) morning.

The inflation process of the duck today (2nd) went relatively smoothly. Various preparatory tasks were carried out starting at 5:30 a.m., and inflation began after 6:15 a.m. By 6:30 a.m., the inflation was complete, taking just 15 minutes in total, and the yellow duck reappeared before the public once again.

The 2013 Taoyuan County Land Square Art Festival was held from October 26 to November 10 in Xinzhuang Township, Taoyuan County. Although both the Taoyuan County Government and the production company stated they would strive to carry out repairs in the hope of giving the duck a chance to reappear in the pond, staff privately also mentioned that the damage to the duck is severe, and repairs may take 5 to 7 days.
