As the year draws to a close, come enjoy the breeze and flowers by the riverside！ To welcome 2018, the Taipei City Water Department has completed several flower sea zones in riverside parks. The first to debut is the Guandu Riverside Flower Sea, featuring 140,000 pots of seasonal flowers arranged into a romantic landscape. Additionally, beneath the overpass platform in the Hakka cultural area of the Guting Riverside Park, there is also a dazzling flower sea that rivals the Netherlands' Keukenhof Gardens, giving the city's green spaces a fresh new look.

To evoke the festive imagery of “a fresh new year,” the overall design of the Guandu Riverside Park flower sea combines red, pink, and orange flower varieties to create lively, vivid curved color blocks, bringing warmth and vibrancy to the cold winter months. The flowers in these flower sea zones have begun to bloom one after another. Various seasonal blooms suitable for winter, such as petunias, salvia farinacea, begonias, and cosmos, will continue to flower until the end of January next year. The best viewing period is expected to be from late December to early January.

Guting Riverside Park was originally adorned with many romantic, exotic-style installations, attracting many couples to take wedding photos here. This flower sea design continues that joyful atmosphere, using over 80,000 pots of warm-colored, high-contrast seasonal flowers such as cosmos, salvia splendens, begonias, and salvia farinacea. The total area of the Guting flower sea spans 2,200 square meters, further enhanced by beautiful white windmills to add to its aesthetic appeal.

In addition, the nearby Fuhang Riverside Park features a flower sea designed by the Water Engineering Office around the green space in front of Baoguoyan, themed around the imagery of water droplets splashing from flowing river water. Using over 36,000 pots of petunias, cosmos, begonias, salvia splendens, and salvia farinacea, it creates a flower sea covering nearly 1,000 square meters. From the elevated areas of Baoguoyan, visitors can admire both the flower sea and the surrounding landscape. The optimal viewing period is expected to be mid-to-late December.
