The Changhua Tianzhong Marathon kicks off on the 10th, with nearly 10,000 runners participating in what is hailed as “Taiwan’s most classic marathon.” Runners from as many as six countries, including South Africa, the UK, and Japan, have also registered to compete. The course is specially designed to take participants along irrigation channels, hiking trails, and the steep Hero’s Slope with a 45-degree incline, allowing runners from around the world to immerse themselves in the rice-scented charm of this small town in Tianzhong.

This year marks the second edition of the Tianzhong Marathon, with as many as 9,427 participants and over 4,000 volunteers involved. The race is divided into a full marathon, half marathon, and fun run categories. The full marathon covers a distance of 42.195 km, the half marathon 22.6 km, and the fun run 11 km. The marathon opens at 6:00 am on the 10th, with the full marathon starting at 6:30 am and the half marathon at 7:30 am.

A carnival and runners’ night were held on the afternoon of the 9th to warm up the event, featuring welcoming performances by frogman units and lively military bands. Additionally, if you’re coming to Tianzhong for the marathon, don’t miss out on local specialties such as Taijong No. 9 Rice and the famous Mima Flower, both must-try souvenirs from Tianzhong.
