Travel to Japan will become more convenient for residents in southern Taiwan. EVA Air announced that starting December 11, it will launch a new “Kaohsiung–Tokyo (Narita)” route. The airline will operate the service using newly introduced A321 aircraft, with daily round-trip flights between Kaohsiung and Japan—ensuring more convenient air travel options for passengers from southern Taiwan.

Whether for short or long trips, Japan has always been one of the most popular destinations for Taiwanese travelers. In recent years, the depreciation of the Japanese yen has further boosted interest in travel to Japan. According to statistics from the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the number of travelers from Taiwan to Japan between January and September this year (2013) increased by 54% compared to the same period last year. The number of Japanese visitors to Taiwan also ranks second, only after those from Mainland China. Therefore, EVA Air hopes that the new route and frequent flight schedule will facilitate greater exchange between Taiwan and Japan.

EVA Air stated that the new route will be served by the latest A321 aircraft, with a total of 184 seats—comprising 8 business class and 176 economy class seats. The “Kaohsiung–Tokyo” flight departs at 7:00 AM and is scheduled to arrive at 11:25 AM, while the “Tokyo–Kaohsiung” flight departs at 12:25 PM and arrives in Taiwan at 3:45 PM. Both routes will operate one flight per day.

To celebrate the launch of the new route, EVA Air has introduced a variety of promotional offers. A three-day, two-night package starts from NT$13,400 (tax excluded), and individual tickets purchased online 60 days before departure are available from NT$8,961 (tax excluded), though quantities are limited. Group travelers flying round-trip during the first three days of the route’s launch (December 11, 12, and 13) will also receive a complimentary limited-edition Hello Kitty tote bag.
