Travel Center / Comprehensive Report
If you visit Tongluo Township in Miaoli County now, you’ll see patches of snow-white dotting the grasslands, resembling a landscape covered in snow — a beautiful sight that heralds the blooming season of white chrysanthemums in this splendid autumn. The “2013 Miaoli Tongluo White Chrysanthemum and Taro Festival” invites everyone to come and enjoy this magnificent autumn scenery.
Tongluo Township, which sees white chrysanthemum “snowfall” every November, always attracts many tourists who make it an annual pilgrimage — it’s the area’s most distinctive natural product. Due to the short blooming period and reduced yield by nearly 30% this year caused by typhoons, the Council of Agriculture’s Agriculture and Food Agency specially reminds visitors to plan their trip around mid-November when the white chrysanthemums are at their peak, or they may have to wait another year to see them.
At the White Chrysanthemum Special Zone in Jiuhu Village, where the “2013 Miaoli Tongluo White Chrysanthemum and Taro Festival” is being held, the Tongluo Township Farmers’ Association has also jumped on the panda cub craze by placing large statues of Tuantuan, Yuanyuan, and Yuanzai in the sea of white flowers, attracting crowds of people to stop and take photos. Given the frequent food safety issues in recent years, the Tongluo Township Farmers’ Association emphasized to the public that the white chrysanthemums produced in Tongluo have passed multiple quality inspections and obtained origin certification labels, ensuring hygiene and safety, so visitors can enjoy viewing and purchasing them with peace of mind.
