Spring Airlines' low-cost December "Pudong–Taoyuan" direct flights; one-way untaxed fares start as low as 965 RMB

The Chinese low-cost airline "Spring," which entered the cross-strait air travel market at the end of October, has announced the addition of a new direct route between the two sides after launching services on the Kaohsiung–Shanghai route. Starting December 1, the new "Taoyuan–Shanghai Pudong" route will be added, with one-way untaxed ticket prices offered at just around one thousand RMB.

Since the implementation of China's "Tourism Law" in October, there have been increasing calls to allow more travelers to visit Taiwan independently. Spring Airlines anticipates rapid growth in cross-strait independent travel in the future. Since launching the Pudong–Kaohsiung route on October 27, the flight has maintained a high occupancy rate of 99%. Therefore, on the 13th, the airline announced the addition of the "Taoyuan–Pudong" direct route starting December 1.

Zhang Xiuzhi, Chief Executive Officer of Spring Airlines, stated that the Taoyuan–Shanghai Pudong route will operate five flights per week using the 180-seat A320 aircraft. For the inaugural flight, special round-trip discounted tickets are being offered to Taiwanese travelers at an untaxed price of 700 RMB (approximately 3,500 NTD), but these are limited to specific dates: departures from "Taoyuan–Shanghai" from December 1 to 3, and returns from "Shanghai–Taoyuan" on December 5, 6, and 8. To boost initial passenger loads, long-term promotional prices will be available on the official website one week before the launch, with one-way untaxed ticket prices starting as low as 430 RMB (about 2,100 NTD). The number of promotional tickets is limited and may vary depending on the season.

Additionally,all flights offer a limited number of 10 exclusive smartphone booking prices, with one-way untaxed fares starting as low as 199 RMB (approximately 965 NTD), and taxes amounting to 350 RMB (approximately 1,700 NTD). The estimated round-trip minimum fare is less than 6,000 NTD.

Zhang Wu’an, spokesperson for Spring Airlines, also reminded passengers that, as this is a low-cost airline,the free checked baggage allowance is 15 kilograms (including both carry-on and checked luggage),and any excess will incur a fee calculated at 1.5% of the published economy class fare.
