One of Taipei City’s four major flower exhibitions, the annual “Unparalleled Chrysanthemum World” at the Shilin Official Residence, will take place from November 17 to December 1. This year’s exhibition specially crafts a 200 cm long and 150 cm tall yellow rubber duck using 2,400 chrysanthemums; additionally, rainbow chrysanthemums and a 5-meter-tall king dahlia will make their debut.

Riding the yellow rubber duck craze, a yellow duck dressed in a “chrysanthemum outfit” will appear as a mysterious guest, making an early public appearance on the opening day, the 16th. The chrysanthemum exhibition features nine outdoor display areas and three indoor exhibition halls, including “Home of Large Chrysanthemum Plants,” “Shoreline Chrysanthemum Shadows,” and “Dancing Autumn Chrysanthemums.” Among them, the “Home of Large Chrysanthemum Plants” has surpassed last year’s flower count of 1,500 blooms. It will also showcase 23 king dahlias standing 5 meters tall, as well as various chrysanthemums, including the country’s first-ever rainbow chrysanthemums.

The Shilin Official Residence chrysanthemum exhibition has been running for over 10 years and is recognized as one of Taipei City’s four major flower seasons, along with the Taipei Flower Exhibition, Camellia Exhibition, and Yangmingshan Flower Festival. In addition to the chrysanthemum displays, there will also be a joint exhibition of chrysanthemum paintings by eight artists including Hu Fugui, and performances such as orchestras and singing during weekends.
