Taoyuan Airport's 30-Year Aviation Science Museum to Relocate; Pre-Move Events Begin

Affected by the construction of Terminal 3 at Taoyuan Airport, the Aviation Science Museum will close and relocate on December 25. To honor its more than 30-year legacy, the museum has launched a special series of relocation events titled “Preserving Memories, Moving to the New Venue,” featuring activities such as a stamp map, an aviation photography exhibition, aviation sharing sessions, aviation workshops, and a closing ceremony. The new museum is scheduled to move to a park adjacent to the hangar of the Black Cat Squadron at the naval base.

To accommodate the westward shift of the taxiway for Terminal 3 at Taoyuan Airport, the 32-year-old Aviation Science Museum must be relocated. Organizers have set up a wishing tree where visitors can write down their memories of the old museum and hopes for the new one.

The museum opened in late October of the 70th year of the Republic of China (1981), covering an area of approximately 5.5 hectares. The new venue is expected to open in three to five years, spanning a larger area of 6 hectares, and will incorporate historical elements such as the aircraft hangars of the Lu Zhu Air Force’s 35th Squadron, the oxygen supply room, and the barracks of the Dayuan Air Force Photographic Technology Team.

Aviation Stamp Map ActivityFrom now until December 25,Aviation Photography Exhibitionwill be displayed from the 25th to December 8.Aviation Sharing SessionFeaturing former museum directors, flight instructors, and the head of the Civil Aeronautics Administration’s Air Traffic Control Division, who will share their aviation experiences on the 30th, December 8, and 14. The sessions will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.Aviation WorkshopTwo sessions will be offered on December 7 and 15, teaching participants how to make paper airplanes and water rockets from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The finale,the Closing Ceremony,will take place on December 25 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Aviation Science Museum Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Admission: General admission NT$30, concession NT$20, group tickets (for 20 or more people) NT$15 per person.
