With just 40 days left until 2014, Taiwan’s highly anticipated New Year’s Eve fireworks displays are gearing up across the island, ready to ignite public enthusiasm with dazzling, spectacular shows. Taipei 101, Yunlin’s Janfusun Fancyworld, Kaohsiung’s Dream Mall, and E-DA World have all prepared high-caliber fireworks displays this year, inviting everyone to welcome the new year together.

The highlight of every New Year’s Eve is undoubtedly the fireworks show at Taipei 101. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of its completion. The internationally renowned French design team “Group F,” which has created the fireworks shows for Taipei 101 for two consecutive years, revealed that this year’s theme will revolve around the concept of “ten.” NU SKIN, the sponsor for this year, also announced that the total duration of the fireworks display will be 218 seconds—the longest in history—and will feature enhanced musical elements to offer a visual and auditory feast. It is reported that hotels in the vicinity of Taipei 101 with clear views of the fireworks have already reached over 60% booking rates, with some fully booked. Those wishing to enjoy a close-up view of Taipei 101 without the New Year’s Eve crowds should act fast.

Meanwhile, the location with the longest fireworks display this New Year’s Eve is Yunlin’s Janfusun Fancyworld. Centered around the theme park’s Ferris wheel, the show will feature eight rounds of fireworks lighting up the night sky, with a total projected duration of 600 seconds.

Kaohsiung’s New Year’s Eve celebration will take place at both Dream Mall and E-DA World. While the exact details and duration of the fireworks shows are not yet confirmed, E-DA World has revealed plans to match the grandeur of the fireworks displays held for the Republic of China’s centennial celebration. Kaohsiung Dream Mall aims to coordinate its fireworks with the building’s signature fish-shaped architecture, offering a unique display unlike previous years.
