Tainan Zoumalai Hot Air Balloon Art Festival Takes Flight During the 2014 Spring Festival

The “2014 Tainan Winter Hot Air Balloon Fire Dance Art Festival” will be held at Zoumalai Farm from January 15 to February 16, 2014, featuring a 33-day program of hot air balloon performances, fire dance shows, and hot air balloon light sculpture concerts. European professional pilots will be invited to participate, and large hot air balloons capable of carrying 5 to 6 passengers will also be introduced.

The “Zoumalai Winter Hot Air Balloon Carnival” will be held on a grander scale next year under the new name “2014 Tainan Winter Hot Air Balloon Fire Dance Art Festival.”

Contracts have already been signed with the hot air balloon aviation team — China Aviation Co., Ltd. — to introduce large hot air balloons and professional European hot air balloon pilots, as well as fire dance performances imported from the United States. These will combine music, lights, and flames to deliver a fiery spectacle on the grasslands of Zoumalai Farm.

The Hot Air Balloon Light Sculpture Concert will take place every Saturday during the event period. Other activities include a winter hot air balloon camp, remote-controlled aircraft performances, a hot air balloon museum, a hot air balloon cultural and creative pavilion, and an agricultural delicacies food zone. Organizers have also announced that this year’s popular yellow rubber duck and panda standing 10 meters tall in balloon form will be on display.

Zoumalai Farm has now opened the first phase of hot air balloon reservations for overnight guests, with 200 early morning slots available daily for resident visitors. The second phase of online reservations is also expected to officially launch at midnight on December 20.
