Explore the Xinyi Line & Discover Its Cultural Architecture — Tourism Bureau Launches Weekend Guided Tours

Taipei Metro’s “most luxurious” line — the Xinyi Line — officially opened on the 24th of this month. To coincide with the opening, the Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism will host the “Strolling Through Xinyi – Weekend Regular Guided Tours” every weekend from November 30 to December 29. With detailed introductions by professional guides, travelers from all over can experience the area’s sightseeing highlights, public art, and architectural aesthetics.

Xinyi District is the heart of Taipei, as well as a hub for politics and business. The area is packed with department stores, and many well-known corporations have their headquarters here. Must-visit destinations include the world’s second tallest building, Taipei 101; the internationally renowned Taipei World Trade Center; Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, a haven for artistic creativity; and Sishiwu South Village, which showcases the culture of military dependents’ villages from the early days of the Nationalist government’s relocation to Taiwan. These are top choices for visitors exploring Xinyi District.

To coincide with the official opening of the Xinyi Metro Line and to help visitors better understand the local life, cultural creativity, and architectural features of Xinyi District, the Department of Information and Tourism will hold “Strolling Through Xinyi” guided tours every Saturday and Sunday from November 30 until the end of the year. Each guided tour consists of a morning and an afternoon session, each lasting about 90 minutes. Led by professional guides proficient in both Chinese and English, participants will visit key sites in Xinyi District.

The “Strolling Through Xinyi” guided tour is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is free of charge, but each session is limited to 30 participants. The morning and afternoon themes differ. The morning theme is “A Journey Through Taipei’s Cultural Architecture Aesthetics.” Starting at 10:00 AM from the “Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station Visitor Service Center,” the tour follows Xinyi Road, visiting Taipei 101 and the Taipei Explorer Dome, then continues to the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall before heading to Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. Along the way, the guide will introduce cultural creativity, architectural aesthetics, and public art.

The afternoon session, themed “An Experience of Taipei’s Daily Life and Humanities,” begins at 2:00 PM from the “Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station Visitor Service Center.” Guides will lead participants through Taipei’s local cultural life, starting with a visit to Sishiwu South Village to explore military dependents’ village culture. On double Saturdays and every Sunday, you can also check out the small market at Sishiwu South Village, where local farmers sell their produce and various handmade artisans display their creations — a lively scene. Next, the tour explores life around Xinyi District, including Taipei’s popular YouBike program, showcasing local daily life. The tour concludes at the Taipei Explorer Dome to uncover the history and development of Taipei City.
