Kaohsiung Christmas Light-Up  29-meter Tower Illuminates the Harbor City’s Night Sky

To celebrate the Christmas season, the Kaohsiung City Government today (1st) held the “2013 Christmas Light-Up, Kaohsiung Shines” event at the World Games Main Stadium. A 29-meter-tall Christmas main light was installed on-site, while 175 churches, government agencies, and other locations across the city simultaneously lit up at 8 p.m., illuminating the harbor city’s night sky. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu stated that Taiwan needs more inclusiveness to spread love and peace.

This evening, Mayor Chen Chu led the city government team and representatives from various religious groups in launching the 29-meter LED Christmas main light, lighting up the Kaohsiung night sky and kicking off the event. At the same time, 175 key locations including churches, government offices, schools, and department stores also lit up their light displays, filling the harbor city with the peace and joy of Christmas. The entire World Games Boulevard was transformed into a dazzling light zone, creating a beautiful illuminated street.

In addition to the carefully planned 900-meter-long Star Rain Avenue, the Christmas-themed eco-art installations, and the “River of Life” exhibit designed to resemble the exterior of the Catholic Sacred Heart Cathedral, the event features a variety of rich performances every weekend evening from 7 to 9 p.m. during the event period. An “Angel Love Fair” will also be held on December 24th, where the public can join in to experience the love and hope of Kaohsiung.
