The 2016 Velo-city Global "rolls into" Taipei

Taipei Mayor announced on the 3rd that the city has secured the hosting rights for the major international cycling event, the "Velo-city Global 2016." Taipei is also the first Asian city to host this prestigious gathering. Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-pin stated that over the next three years, Taipei will continue to promote cycling culture. In addition to expanding the YouBike rental network, the city will also gradually improve its cycling infrastructure

The "Velo-city Global" is organized by the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF), headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. The first edition was held in 1980 in Bremen, Germany, and the event has since taken place in more than 20 cities across various countries. Initially, the conference was not held on a fixed schedule, but starting in 2009, it began alternating between odd-numbered years in European cities and even-numbered years in cities selected globally.
