Spain Cave Museum: A massive labyrinth with 100 kilometers of underground galleries

Located in Burgos, Spain,the Ojo Guareña Cavesboast majestic rock formations not only as one of the country’s largest karst landscapes but also as a museum rich in ancient artifacts, holding both geographical and archaeological significance.

The 18-cave Ojo Guareña complex forms an underground gallery stretching over 100 kilometers. Scholars have discovered sites within, including rock paintings, carvings, and pottery dating from the middle Paleolithic era to the Middle Ages. Notably, the Painting Room, Kaite Cave, the Water Spring Room, and “footprints” dating back to 15,000 BC amaze visitors the most.

Additionally, the Ojo Guareña complex has revealed remnants of “invertebrate life” not found elsewhere. While exploring the caves, don’t forget to imagine that this was once the home of invertebrates hundreds of millions of years ago.
