Evergreen’s First “Private Jet” to Take Off Next Year

Evergreen Airline’s first business jet is expected to obtain a general aviation license soon and begin operations next year. Evergreen will be Taiwan’s first airline to operate both scheduled flights and business jets. This business jet is an A318 model, with the actual owner being a Taiwanese businessman who has entrusted Evergreen to manage and operate it. When the aircraft owner needs to use the plane, Evergreen provides services such as pilots, maintenance, catering, and flight route applications, while also offering paid services to passengers requiring business jet travel at other times.

Nie Guowei, spokesperson for Evergreen Airline, said that the business jet will begin operations next year, and more business jets will be introduced in the future. In addition to accepting aircraft under management, the airline does not rule out purchasing its own business jets. According to statistics from the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) of the Ministry of Transportation, since Taiwan amended its Civil Aviation Act in 2008 to allow domestic airlines to operate business jets, five operators have applied to run such services, with a total of nine aircraft.

The CAA stated that the business jet market in Taiwan is still in its early stages. Operators are entering this sector mainly due to the promising cross-strait market. Although the mainland currently only allows non-commercial, official-use business jets to travel between the two sides, growth remains rapid. CAA statistics show that in 2008, when business jets were first permitted, there were only five official-use business jet flights between the two sides.
