Guam Shopping Festival Kicks Off; F.I.R. Band Performs at Opening Ceremony

The 38-day Guam Shopping Carnival has officially kicked off. Recently, the F.I.R. band was invited by the Guam Visitors Bureau to fly to Guam to serve as guests at the opening ceremony. They celebrated with a street-closing BBQ party, browsing through stalls and feasting on Chamorro-style barbecue. The song “Highway No. 7” from their new album will also be the promotional theme song for Guam’s Taiwan region campaign in 2014. The trio shot a promotional video that matches the mood of the song, riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and cruising in a convertible to explore Guam’s famous attractions.

Having debuted for 10 years, F.I.R. has reunited to release a new album. One of the tracks, “Highway No. 7,” which conveys dreams and hope, resonated immediately with Warner Music and the Guam Visitors Bureau, leading to its selection as Guam’s promotional song for 2014. During the filming of the promotional video, producer Dai Ning stole the spotlight — holding both a car and motorcycle license, he took charge of the cool Harley-Davidson and a red convertible, leaving the other two band members watching enviously.

A-Jin wasn’t one to be outdone, reclaiming some glory by performing a newly learned Chamorro warrior dance at the Cultural Village. But when the scene shifted to the dreamy Blue Star Chapel of Happiness, it was the turn of Dee to shine. Wearing a white mini dress adorned with pearls against the backdrop of blue ocean views through the window, she became the most stunning highlight on Tumon Bay. Aside from the grueling filming schedule, the trio, staying at the Hyatt Regency Guam, didn’t forget to steal some leisure time. In addition to enjoying breakfast with an ocean view right on their hotel balcony, they also took the opportunity to try scuba diving for the first time at Fisheye Marine Park, dancing with colorful tropical fish.

The Guam Shopping Carnival kicked off on November 29. With the entire island offering tax-free shopping and end-of-year discounts, the F.I.R. trio, who have been busy preparing their new album and had little time for shopping, took the chance to go on a buying spree. Dee snapped up several designer bags at great prices on the day of arrival to give as gifts to family and friends. A-Jin, who had been eager to purchase the latest gaming console not yet available in Taiwan, was left disappointed when it sold out across the island.
