The yellow rubber duck in Keelung was undergoing its final rehearsal. Originally scheduled to arrive at Ocean Plaza at 1:50 pm, the yellow duck was delayed until 2:30 pm due to the high waves, finally wobbling into the harbor. Unfortunately, the waves were simply too strong—the duck once collided with the railing, and the three accompanying support boats, whose power cables were not long enough and moved too slowly, almost caused the duck to deflate, creating a critical situation.

“Hey, it’s going to crash!” The yellow duck’s final rehearsal in Keelung had bad luck—not only encountering cold weather and rain, but also huge waves at the harbor that completely disrupted its planned 30-minute positioning. The duck hit the railing twice, causing onlookers to gasp, and even shore staff reached out to steady the duck—arguably the “closest ever” encounter between the duck and the public.

In addition to nearly hitting the railing, the boat responsible for powering the duck’s internal blowers also lost control at one point, causing the three support boats to get tangled and the power cable nearly snapped, risking deflation. After an hour of testing and evaluation, it has been decided that the duck will cancel today’s positioning rehearsal and return to the factory.
