Sweet Rainbow B&B — Experience the Romance and Vibrant Vibes of Hualien

Walking around the streets of Hualien, even without a specific destination, felt oddly joyful. That day, we had just finished six grueling days and five nights volunteering for a mural project in Hualien. My friend and I decided to stay an extra day in Hualien to relax properly, so we booked the Sweet Rainbow B&B, which is close to both the city and the sea. They even offered a shuttle service for guests like us with limited transportation options.

While chatting with the B&B owner in the car, I learned that they aren’t originally from Hualien. They simply fell in love with the place, opened a café here, and eventually decided to settle down and run a B&B. Somehow, the reasons people start B&Bs all sound quite similar. But after seeing their place, I truly believed in their romance!!

Just turn a corner and weave through a small alley next to the bustling city area, and you’ll find yourself in a residential neighborhood by the sea. It’s quiet here, but it’s not far to the lively downtown of Hualien, which is very convenient for us without a car.

The house at Sweet Rainbow B&B is adorable, with a puzzle-like rainbow exterior that is colorful, fun, and full of charm. There’s also a large open space nearby for parking.

As soon as I entered the B&B, I was drawn to the purple sofa in the lobby — it immediately captured all my attention. Few people dare to use colors so boldly, but it definitely looked luxurious.


Next to the sofa were cute little bears. The entire lobby was filled with a pleasant fragrance — no surprise, it’s run by women.

In the corner of the living room, there were some lovely knick-knacks and books.


Behind the piano is the dining area where breakfast is served. Slide the door open, and you’ll find a spacious kitchen.


The very kind B&B host picked up a map and started explaining to us how to walk to the nearby downtown area of Hualien for snacks, as well as giving us suggestions on where to go and what to do.


After roughly planning our evening itinerary, we carried our luggage up to the second floor. Even the stairs were thoughtfully designed.

The stairs above the third floor have a cute style, featuring murals and colorful steps.


Sweetheart Rainbow (Double Honeymoon Suite) - Bathtub Room Type, 2,500 NTD on weekdays, 3,200 NTD on holidays. It turns out this is a honeymoon suite — no wonder I was stunned by this white-curtained room as soon as I walked in. Two girls staying in this room is almost too luxurious~~


Everywhere you look, you can see the sweet atmosphere the owners worked hard to create...

There are hearts everywhere — too bad the people staying here today can’t fully appreciate your effort XDDD


They even placed towels and face masks at the foot of the bed — so thoughtful. Speaking of which, I brought quite a few face masks with me while volunteering this time, but I was too exhausted every day to have the time or energy to use them. Grrr~ Today, I’m definitely going to take a relaxing mask treatment~


There’s also an orange sofa next to the bed.


Plus, there’s a wall-mounted LCD TV. We really haven’t seen a TV in six days, and now seeing one feels strangely touching~

On top of the fridge, there’s also a kettle, water, and coffee/tea bags.

This room type has a bathtub, and we definitely needed a good soak. The bathroom is spacious, with separate wet and dry areas, so you can shower and then directly take a bath — very comfortable.


In the evening, we also went to a nearby street to try some delicious food and didn’t forget to bring some back to enjoy on the balcony while chatting and having a late-night snack~
 

It’s hard to see clearly at night, but wait till you see the photos taken during the day — you’ll realize just how big our balcony is!! It’s big enough to throw a party with friends here~ (Photo credit: Nicole)


The breakfast at the B&B in the morning was super abundant — a club sandwich, plus fruits and salad!!


A breakfast portion like this is just too generous. There were so many varieties of fruit, and it felt very balanced and nutritious.

After breakfast, the B&B provided super easy-to-ride bicycles, which we used to ride to nearby Nanbin Park for a stroll, then walk around the streets and grab some food. It was really convenient.


Nanbin Park is just a short distance from the B&B. Taking a lap to enjoy the sea view wasn’t the least bit strenuous — it was relaxing and pleasant.

This slightly sweet Rainbow B&B is quite affordable, offering breakfast, shuttle service, and bicycles, which is very convenient for international travelers visiting Taiwan on their own or for those without a car.

Actually, you don’t need to rent a car or drive when coming to Hualien. If you’re just staying in the city area, you can walk to most places, or you can borrow a bicycle from the B&B to leisurely explore downtown Hualien. It saves money and allows you to experience the area more deeply. Such a thoughtful and conveniently located B&B—how could I not recommend it!? Just keep in mind they don’t have many rooms, so it’s safer to book in advance.
