Solo female travelers often worry about safety when journeying alone without companions. Sendai, the largest city in Japan’s Tohoku region, has recently welcomed the new “Sendai Washington Hotel.” Not only is it affordable and perfectly located, but it also features a “Women-Only Guest Floor” tailored for female travelers. Additionally, there are three one-of-a-kind themed rooms inspired by Miyagi Prefecture. With its considerate and distinctive design, the hotel was almost fully booked shortly after opening !

The “Sendai Washington Hotel” is located right across from Sendai Station and is operated by Japan’s largest hotel group, Fujita Kanko Inc. The nine-story building offers 12 different room types with a total of 223 guest rooms. Thanks to its location directly opposite the station, rooms on the 7th floor and above offer views of the speeding Shinkansen trains.

To help guests relax and unwind during their stay, even single rooms at the Washington Hotel are spacious. Each room comes with free Wi-Fi and a well-appointed bathroom with separate wet and dry areas. Notably, the hotel has thoughtfully created a “Women-Only Guest Floor” for female guests. Access to these rooms requires a special key, and the rooms are equipped with a complimentary beauty product set, ensuring a greater level of safety and comfort for solo female travelers.

Another highlight of the hotel is the trio of uniquely designed rooms that won Fujita Kanko’s design competition themed around Miyagi Prefecture, making them exclusive themed rooms within the hotel. These include the “Modern Date” room, which fuses history with modern design inspired by Date Masamune, a hero of Miyagi Prefecture; the “Miyagi Coastline” room, which embodies the creative power of nature’s destruction and rebirth; and the “Classic Miyagi” room, which showcases the prefecture’s traditional culture. Guests can choose their preferred themed room to experience the unique cultural charm of Miyagi.
