There’s more to Kaohsiung than night markets and harbor views – there are plenty of artistic attractions to explore with your heart. The Kaohsiung City Government recently launched the “Kaohsiung Literary Youth Journey,” hoping that modern literary youths from across Taiwan can visit local sights such as the Kaohsiung Lighthouse, Pier-2 Art Center, and the Yuedi World to enjoy an intellectually enriching trip to Kaohsiung.

Highlights include the emerging literary youth attractions in Kaohsiung such as the Shiyue Drum Sugar Factory Cultural & Creative Park, Qiaotou Railway Station, and the Formosa MRT World Games Station – a filming location for “Black & White” – along with the newly restored Takao British Consulate complex and the classic Pier-2 Art Center, all must-visit spots for Kaohsiung’s literary crowd.

Since many travelers check out tourist destinations online before deciding to go, this “Kaohsiung Literary Youth Journey” campaign is being held on social media platforms, aiming to showcase more of Kaohsiung’s sights. Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng stated that whether it’s cultural attractions or street installations, Kaohsiung has a super cool vibe, and he hopes more modern literary youths of the internet generation will come to visit and help promote the city.
