Top 10 cherry blossom viewing spots in Taipei City: Pingjing Street and Waterworks Park make the list

The vibrant and splendid sea of falling cherry blossoms always excites people. Perhaps many don’t know that there are also many gorgeous cherry blossoms within Taipei City. The newly launched “Cherry Blossom Viewing Page” on Taipei City Government’s Taipei New Flowery website not only provides the latest cherry blossom forecast information for all 12 administrative districts, but also recommends 10 top cherry blossom viewing spots (see Table 1), so residents don’t need to travel far—beautiful cherry blossoms can often be found right near their homes, in street-side areas or parks.

Taipei City Government’s Taipei New Flowery website has been completely revamped this year to provide the public with the latest and fastest flower-viewing information, and has launched a “Cherry Blossom Viewing Page,” recommending 10 major cherry blossom viewing spots based on blooming seasons, such as where the cherry blossoms are most beautifulYangmingshan Park, the spot that caused a cherry blossom viewing craze last year,Pingjing Street, as well as recommended urban cherry blossom viewing spotsChiang Kai-shek Memorial HallandGongguan Waterworks Park, among others. Gather your friends and go on a spring outing to enjoy cherry blossoms on a mini trip.

Other recommended spots includethe Flower Research and Development Center,the back gate of Fuxing High School,the Green Space of the National Security Bureau,China Lily Hotel,Fuxing 3rd Road (Shangqing Temple Trail),Yongjing Park.

In addition to popular spots like Yangmingshan Park and Pingjing Street, the DailaoKeng Hiking Trail in Wenshan District might come as a surprise—there are about 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees here (some located in New Taipei City), with the expected blooming period from early to mid-March. The location is near Yushan Road on the DailaoKeng Hiking Trail.
