The best season to admire plum blossoms has arrived. From December to the end of January each year, you can witness the blooming of plum blossoms all over the mountains—whole hillsides appear as if adorned in white snow. Nantou’s Liushan Plum Garden, known as a “hidden gem for plum blossom viewing,” has entered its prime season this week. The green landscape is set off by white plum blossoms gently swaying in the wind, resembling a stroll through a snow tunnel.

If you want to see plum blossoms blooming in the cold winter, head to “Liu Family Plum Garden” in Niuchongkeng, Nantou. Currently around 15 hectares of the plum garden are open to the public. This lesser-known private scenic spot lies in a hilly area where overlapping mountain ridges intertwine with white plum blossoms, creating a truly breathtaking sight. The viewing season is now in full swing with about 80% of the blossoms open, and this week marks the best time for viewing. Walking across the green grass and looking up, you’ll see branches trembling with white plum blossoms—an absolutely stunning view.
