The TRA’s Shen’ao Line, known as Taiwan’s “most beautiful railway branch line,” is set to be revived on the 9th to coincide with the opening of the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMST). The inaugural train will depart from Ruifang Station and go directly to NMST Station.

The Shen’ao Line began operations in 1965 to transport coal but was discontinued in 2007 after the closure of the Shen’ao Power Plant, leaving the line idle until now. With the upcoming opening of the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications planned external transportation connections and decided to resume the Shen’ao Line. Currently, the line runs between Ruifang Station and NMST Station, with future plans to extend it to Bataozi Station.

In addition to holding an inauguration ceremony for the resumption of the Shen’ao Line at 10:00 AM on the 9th, TRA will also begin selling commemorative tickets at the Ruifang Station (rear station) ticket window starting at 8:30 AM. TRA stated that the resumed section of the Shen’ao Line runs directly from Ruifang Station to NMST Station, covering a total distance of 4.2 kilometers with an estimated travel time of 10 minutes. Currently, 20 trains are scheduled daily, providing a capacity of approximately 8,500 passengers. After arriving at NMST Station, visitors can walk through the tree-lined path of the former North Thermal Power Plant dormitory area to reach the museum grounds. (Source: Central News Agency)
