Has McDonald’s iconic character “Uncle McDonald” actually been replaced?! The “Taichung Teddy Bear Exhibition,” which just ended in early January, saw hundreds of teddy bears go their separate ways — but one representing McDonald’s, the “McDonald’s Bear,” has quietly taken over from Uncle McDonald to greet customers at the entrance of a newly opened branch in Taichung recently.

A netizen spotted this afternoon (the 9th) that at a newly opened McDonald’s on Section 3, Fuxing Road in Taichung City, instead of the familiar Uncle McDonald grinning widely to greet people, it was the “McDonald’s Bear” — one of the hundred teddy bears from the recent street exhibition — waving to attract customers at the entrance.

The store stated that the “McDonald’s Bear” will be on duty “welcoming and seeing off” customers at the entrance until January 30, and that customers who spend NT$168 or more at the outlet will also receive a red envelope with a teddy bear print. However, supplies are limited and will be given out until they run out.
