While the yellow duck in Keelung in northern Taiwan is all the rage, a big white duck has now captured attention in southern Taiwan. The Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan National Scenic Area Administration announced today that from the 11th onward until the Lunar New Year holiday period, a “North Gate Holiday Farmers’ Market” will be set up next to the North Gate Visitor Center in Beimen, Tainan. A cute white duck will also stand nearby, becoming a new attraction at Beimen.

Standing 3 meters tall and 3.5 meters wide, the pure white duck body represents the famous salt fields of Beimen.The large white duck erected next to the Beimen Visitor Center isn’t just a “land duck”—when strong northeast monsoon winds blow, the duck’s body sways along with the wind, bobbing its head and attracting the attention of many children. Visitor Mr. Lee said that while the Keelung duck can only be admired from afar, this white duck in Beimen allows people to take close-up photos with it, and even touch it. More importantly, it is 100% made in Taiwan (MIT) and has a very healing effect.

During the extended holiday period, every weekend evening, there will also be a night market set up next to the Beimen Visitor Center, becoming a new highlight for family trips.”
