During the Chief Executive Board (CEB) meeting held by Star Alliance in Beijing on December 13, it was announced that its member Air China has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Beijing Capital International Airport. Going forward, the two parties will not only collaborate closely but also build an important transfer hub, significantly enhancing the passenger service quality offered by Beijing Capital International Airport.
Christian Draeger, Vice President of Passenger Services at Star Alliance, pointed out that Beijing is not only a crucial transit point within the Star Alliance network, but the upcoming Beijing Daxing International Airport, once operational, will create an excellent opportunity to strengthen services at Beijing Capital International Airport for Star Alliance. The signing of this MOU will lay the foundation for even better services within the alliance and help expand the offerings of the Beijing hub.
Zhao Xiaohang, Vice President of Air China, stated that this year marks the 10th anniversary milestone of Air China’s membership in Star Alliance, and it is a great honor to play an important role in the long-term development of Star Alliance at Beijing Capital International Airport.
Du Qiang, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Capital International Airport, said that signing the MOU with Star Alliance is a win-win cooperation plan. Beijing Capital International Airport will integrate resources from both sides to enhance the passenger flight experience.
According to this MOU, all Star Alliance members will be relocated to the same terminal. This will not only improve passenger service but also provide a more comprehensive automated airport process, such as check-in outside the airport, self-service check-in, and self-service baggage drop-off. In addition, transfer procedures for Star Alliance flights will become faster, delivering more convenient services to passengers.
A total of 17 Star Alliance airlines operate at Beijing Capital International Airport, offering over 742 flights daily, connecting 177 destinations across 41 countries. Star Alliance members serving there include Air Canada, Air China, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, Thai Airways, and United Airlines, in addition to EVA Air.
