The top 10 most-searched travel hotspots of 2017 revealed — Kenting not on the list

Kenting tourism has recently garnered much attention, sparking a heated discussion topic of “Kenting or Okinawa.” According to the latest 2017 top 10 most-searched tourist attractions released by a search engine, the most-searched scenic spot in Taiwan is Wuling Farm; additionally, theme parks across Taiwan have made a strong showing, taking up half of the rankings. However, Kenting, which has recently sparked widespread online discussion, did not make the list this time. It seems that finding a way to reclaim its former glory is a major challenge for Kenting.

Yahoo Kimo yesterday announced the latest 2017 top 10 most-searched tourist attractions, with the long-established Wuling Farm topping the list as the most-searched destination among netizens; also, half of the ranked spots are theme parks, with Leofoo Village Theme Park and Lihpao Land ranking 2nd and 3rd, showing a resurgence in public interest in domestic theme parks. Other included spots are Dream Mall, Janfusun Fancyworld, and E-DA World.

In addition, Beitou Hot Springs, ranked 4th in search popularity, is the only northern attraction on the list; Tainan’s emerging attraction, Chimei Museum, ranks 5th; while long-standing tourist spots Sun Moon Lake and Guanziling Hot Springs rank 6th and 9th respectively. However, apart from the absence of the recently hotly debated Kenting, no eastern Taiwan attractions made the list either.
