Kenting tourist numbers plummet, may fall below 5 million this year

Kenting’s tourist popularity has dropped sharply. The Kenting National Park Administration recently released November attraction visitor statistics, revealing that this year’s Kenting tourist numbers may not exceed 5 million. The “Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration” will now step in to help revive Kenting’s sluggish tourism.

According to Liberty Times, statistics from the Kenting Administration show that tourist numbers were still at 8 million three years ago, but they plummeted last year, and this year are projected not to break 5 million. As a result, central government ministries have decided to bring in the Dapeng Bay Administration to help address Kenting’s declining tourist traffic.

The Ministry of Transportation hopes the Tourism Bureau will analyze the issue from a “tourism transport” perspective, with the geographically relevant Dapeng Bay Administration outsourcing the task. Recently, a contract was signed with a consulting firm for the “Hengchun Peninsula Tourism Development Blueprint Planning” commissioned project. The Kenting Administration welcomes the Tourism Bureau’s involvement, stating it will fully cooperate as long as ecological conservation is not compromised. Local hotels in Kenting also expressed support, hoping to help rescue Kenting’s tourism industry.
