New Taipei’s Colorful New Year Goods Market Opens on the 18th, Giving Away 1,000 Fortune Bags and Raffling Tablets

The “2014 New Taipei Colorful New Year Goods Market” officially opens from January 18 to January 26. To mark the occasion, the New Taipei City Government has prepared1,000 Fortune Bags from Hōnglúdìto give out to the public.

In addition to the morning Fortune Bag event, this year’s New Taipei Colorful New Year Goods Market also includes a “Spend NT$500, Get a New Year Lucky Sock” and tablet raffle promotion. The market has set up 126 stalls selling a wide range of New Year goods and regional specialties, and will host events like New Year lucky bags, a “NT$1 New Year’s Eve Dinner Auction,” and free snacks to bring a festive vibe to visitors.

This year’s New Taipei Colorful New Year Goods Market is themed around the Chinese zodiac beast Nian, incorporating traditional New Year paper-cut art. Four large installations have been set up around the city government, including a nearly 3-meter-tall Nian beast display, a Nian beast house, carved lanterns, and “Spring Wealth Arrives.” There is also a large area with wish lanterns for blessings. For visitors’ convenience, on-site delivery service is available for any item size at a flat rate of NT$99.
