Surrounded by floral scents and seas of blossoms — Nantou’s Enchanting Plum Blossoms “White Snow”

Leaving Sun Moon Lake, the gentle sunshine led us to another realm of plum blossoms — the Central Plains Tribe, homeland of the Seediq people, nestled in a hidden valley. The winding mountain road slowed our pace, as we were wary of missing this dreamlike scene.

Visitors drawn by the fame wandered freely through the plum orchard, admiring these snow-like blossoms against a backdrop of blue skies and green land. As a breeze blew, petals fluttered down, covering the path in white, creating the illusion of being in a snowy landscape...

Recently, the mountainous areas of Nantou have been blanketed in “white.” The blooming plum forests are an annual floral spectacle. Today, we’re sharing one of the newest and hottest hidden plum-blossom viewing spots — located right next to Huzhu Elementary School in Ren’ai Township, Nantou County. (Huzhu Elementary School features classrooms adorned with beautiful indigenous totems.)


Surrounded by mountains, Huzhu Elementary School has architecture and decorations designed in an indigenous style. Though small, it has its own unique charm. Looking out over the surrounding hills, you’ll see rows of plum trees. With the season in full bloom, even though it’s a new hidden gem, the power of the internet has quickly drawn large crowds of blossom enthusiasts, turning the school into a resting spot for visitors. This “new plum-blossom viewing spot” is a private plum orchard located beside the school playground at Huzhu Elementary School — no admission fee required. Just walk along the slopes by the paths, and you’ll discover hills and valleys bursting with blooming plum blossoms. But we still followed the rules: no littering or picking flowers.

The school playground is small but adorable. Even though it wasn’t a holiday, we made sure not to disturb classes, keeping our voices low while walking.

The colder it gets, the more the plum blossoms bloom. They are gradually opening up, transforming the entire hillside into a stunning snowy-white scene.

The plum blossoms are blooming more and more luxuriantly — Up! The air is filled with their fragrance, truly intoxicating.


Surrounded by a sea of plum blossoms on the mountains, they captured our attention. I greedily pressed the shutter again and again, barely pausing for breath... Under the clear blue sky and amidst this expanse of white, it was a truly beautiful experience.




The plum orchard by the elementary school is planted on a gentle slope, so when taking photos, you can also capture views of the distant hills. Plum blossoms really do bloom more beautifully in the cold. In recent days, successive cold fronts and continental air masses have caused plum blossoms across the region to bloom profusely and beautifully.

Plum trees lined our path, and all we could see and think about were beautiful memories...


In the past, I used to glance at plum blossoms without much thought. This is the first time I’ve observed them so closely. Ever since I started playing with cameras, I’ve begun to look at the world more attentively.




The plum blossoms are so beautiful, the sky so blue. These tiny blossoms possess such a charming allure that I want to visit again.

The beauty of plum blossoms lies in their frosty resilience. Without flashy or bright colors, their noble elegance is what draws flower lovers.




Strolling through the plum trees, you can not only enjoy their fragrance but also immerse yourself in a poetic tenderness.

 

The plum trees here grow tall and large, covering the hillsides in full bloom, resembling snowflakes — truly gorgeous. From a distance, you can see the white peaks emerging from the slopes.




Gazing into the distance, the hillsides are covered in a vast stretch of white...




Taking a leisurely stroll through the plum grove, enjoying the fragrance of the blossoms, facing the mountain breeze, with petals falling like snowflakes gently brushing your face. The plum blossoms are blooming densely, each posture incredibly enchanting.

Everywhere you look, there are snow-white plum blossoms in full bloom...




Passing another plum-blossom viewing area, we made even more surprising discoveries. The view was entirely white, and strolling through the fragrant plum grove, we enjoyed the delights of floral scents and falling snow.



Although this plum garden isn’t large and is planted on a hillside, we walked and photographed for nearly an hour. Thanks to the good weather, the blooms were at their peak. Walking along the hillside paths, how does it feel to be surrounded by a sea of blossoms?


With plum trees lining the path and their fragrance wafting through the air, petals drifting down with the breeze, walking through it is an absolute delight.




From Christmas to Lunar New Year every year, plum blossoms are in full competition to bloom. We’re currently at peak season. Plum blossom viewers can’t resist flocking to see them — those who want to see them should definitely seize the opportunity.




The mountainous seas of plum blossoms resemble falling snow, creating a truly romantic scene.
