Shock level through the roof—Hong Kong theme park revives Saw for Halloween to test your heart

Halloween without scares just isn’t enough. Every year, Halloween is one of the biggest seasonal events for major theme parks—festive celebrations during the day, monsters unleashed at night, and terrifying scenes brought to life. This year, a Hong Kong theme park is creating Asia’s first Saw-themed Halloween experience, the largest ever, challenging thrill-seekers’ courage. Are you ready?

The Halloween extravaganza “Halloween Bash” at Ocean Park Hong Kong kicked off today with the unveiling of this year’s theme. Coinciding with its 40th anniversary, this year’s event is the largest to date, featuring 11 Halloween attractions, 12 unique experiences, and 11 ghostly performances. These include the “Burial Chamber,” which ups the scare factor with its medieval European voodoo live-burial theme, and Asia’s first Saw-themed attraction, “Saw—The Game,” recreating one of Lionsgate’s highest-grossing horror films.

“Saw—The Game” is the highlight of the 2017 Halloween Bash, authentically recreating the movie’s anti-trap mechanisms, brutal wire mazes, and other deadly traps. Visitors will experience the terrifying death devices of the Jigsaw Killer, including some extreme punishments featured in Saw VIII, set to release in Hong Kong on October 26.

Thrill-seekers can also challenge “Zombie Graveyard” and “Haunted Walled City” for a variety of intense fears. Ocean Park Hong Kong has also introduced the “Panic Experience” for the first time this year, featuring three attractions—“House of Panic 17,” “Dark Labyrinth,” and “Descent of Doom”—to push visitors’ bravery to the limit.

Additionally, the terrifying journey of the “Burial Chamber” begins with lying alone in a coffin. Lucky visitors may reunite with friends and family along the way, or else face horrifying skeletons, coffin arrays, rock mazes, bone chambers, and black magic curses. Meanwhile, “daytime festive celebrations and nighttime monster mayhem” draw inspiration from Mexico’s iconic Día de los Muertos, offering two distinctly Latin American Halloween experiences.

Beyond the heart-pounding scares, there are also thoughtful Halloween surprises for families. The “Whiskers & Friends Halloween Party” features the park’s popular mascots in new Halloween costumes, and the longest outdoor Halloween fun corridor in Hong Kong, the “Trick-or-Treat Candy Factory,” will return to the park. This family-friendly attraction will be open daily from October 5 to 31.

This year’s Halloween Bash introduces “Peak Days” for the first time. Visitors must purchase “Halloween Bash tickets” on October 21, 22, 28, and 29 to access the attractions and watch the “Final Chapter of the Haunted Cinema.” All tickets valid from October 5 to 31 are now available on the official Ocean Park Hong Kong website, with an online 5% discount. Guests holding Premium Tickets can reserve limited slots for the “Panic Experience” online.
