The hotel booking website Hotels.com today released Taiwan people’s travel bucket list, with “seeing the aurora” taking the top spot, “taking a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon in the U.S.” coming in second, and “visiting Niagara Falls” ranking third—demonstrating that natural wonders hold strong appeal for locals.
Hotels.com stated that up to 80% of travelers have a personal travel wish list, and among them, 50% of Taiwanese people dream of traveling around the world. “Seeing the aurora” claimed the first place with 57%, being widely regarded as a must-visit dream destination in one’s lifetime. Second place went to taking a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon in the U.S. (38%), followed by visiting Niagara Falls (34.67%) in third, and diving in the Great Barrier Reef (34.33%) in fourth. The top four spots were all dominated by natural attractions, making them the most beloved by Taiwanese people. Fifth place was a visit to the Statue of Liberty (34.33%), the only landmark attraction among the top five. The sixth to tenth places were respectively venturing into polar regions, climbing the Eiffel Tower, visiting Machu Picchu, walking along the Great Wall of China, and watching a West End/Broadway show.
Hotels.com encourages travelers to “act on your dreams”—whether it's natural scenery, ancient civilizations, world heritage sites, or iconic landmarks, they’re all worth a visit in this lifetime.
