Kinmen’s Latest Attraction: Wubao’s Three Military Camps Renovated with NT$5 Million to Open During Lunar New Year

The Wubao Three Military Camps (W16 Outpost), after being decommissioned, underwent a renovation project funded by nearly NT$5 million from the Kinmen National Park Headquarters. An unveiling ceremony was held this morning (22nd), and the site will open to the public during the Lunar New Year, becoming Kinmen’s newest tourist attraction.

After being released following the military streamlining program, the Wubao Three Military Camps have gradually transitioned from military defense to historical war tourism resources. The camp preserves remarkably intact tunnels and coastal outposts. The Kinmen National Park Headquarters has also specially arranged a special exhibition inside the tunnels featuring images of former President Chiang Kai-shek’s inspections of Kinmen over the years, allowing visitors to understand the island’s significant role at that time through the visuals. Inside the Zhongshan Room, maps of the Kinmen battles and defenses are preserved, and the original realistic depiction of Shekou is also retained. Visitors can look out from the firing ports to view the Kinmen-Xiamen waterway and the Xiamen coastline. Outside the tunnels, one can also experience the guarding and defense of the coastal military outposts.

The Kinmen National Park Headquarters stated that in the future, they plan to connect the Wubao Two Military Camps (W17 Outpost), Andong One Military Camp, and Andong Three Military Camp, forming a complete linear military heritage route from the Wubao Broadcasting Wall to Longkou Coastline, creating a tourist trail where visitors can experience the wartime atmosphere of that era.
