Cherry blossoms begin to bloom — the Yangmingshan Flower Festival kicks off on January 29

The annual Yangmingshan Flower Festival is set to launch on January 29th. Thanks to the alternating effects of cold fronts and warm weather, various types of cherry blossoms are starting to bloom. There are over 3,200 cherry trees across the Yangmingshan area, including nearly 1,000 in Yangmingshan Park and 350 at the Flower Experimental Center on Yangde Boulevard, which will take turns blossoming.

The Yangmingshan Flower Festival runs from January 29th to March 9th. The first wave of blooms features cherry blossoms, followed by over 12 other flower varieties, including daffodils, golden azaleas, Hirado azaleas, Chinese hydrangea, Philippine viburnum, and Chinese toon, all heralding the arrival of spring.

As the Yangmingshan Flower Festival attracts over one million visitors each year, traffic control measures will be in place along Yangde Boulevard from January 29th to March 9th to ensure smooth traffic flow. Extended controls will be enforced on weekends and national holidays lasting two or more consecutive days. The uphill traffic control period is from 06:00 to 16:00, while the downhill control period is from 14:00 to 18:00. Controlled areas: the uphill control point is at the Fuxing Bridgehead and the entrance to Lane 1, Section 2, Zhishan Road; the downhill control point is at the intersection of Yangming Road and Zhongheng Street.
