No need to fear "raining upon arrival" – The Weather Bureau launches 6 major travel weather forecasts

Travelers often dread the weather "not cooperating" – departing under clear skies only to be met with storms at their destination. Starting today, the Weather Bureau’s website has introducedsix major categories of “Recreational Weather” forecasts, covering popular activity spots such as cycling, hiking, and seaside water play, with weather conditions updated every three hours. For the Lunar New Year holiday period, a special Lunar New Year weather report section has also been launched, allowing travelers to stay updated on weather conditions while on holiday.

The six major recreational weather categories includeswimming beaches, cycling, tourism, sea fishing, hiking, and stargazing, with the tourism category further divided into national forest recreation areas, national parks, national scenic areas, and leisure farms. Based on popular activity spots in each category, the “next 48-hour weather conditions” are updated every three hours, while the “7-day forecast” is updated once per day. Forecast details include temperature, hourly rainfall, sunrise and sunset times, among others.

In addition, the Weather Bureau’s website also provides weather forecasts for the Lunar New Year period. From now until the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, Taiwan is divided into five major regions: North, Central, South, East, and Penghu-Kinmen-Matsu. The site lists the “today,” “tonight,” and “tomorrow” weather conditions for each county and city, and also publishes the one-week weather forecasts for tourist attractions in each region, updated every evening at 7 PM.
