To alleviate the tourist crowds on Provincial Highway 3 during the Lunar New Year holiday, Hsinchu County Government has arranged for the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle “Lion Mountain Line” to operate on holiday schedules from New Year’s Eve (January 30) to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year (February 4), with services running every 30 minutes. The public is encouraged to make use of this service.

The Hsinchu County Transportation and Tourism Department stated that the county government has long been committed to implementing a seamless tourism service plan to provide comprehensive services for travelers. Since its launch, the “Lion Mountain Line” sightseeing bus route has seen steady growth in ridership—from 54,789 passengers in 2012 to 66,148 in 2013, thanks to active promotion and marketing efforts, representing a nearly 20% increase.

In addition, to promote the scenic beauty of Meimei Lake—including attractions such as the Ximiaopu Suspension Bridge, Meimei Giant Buddha, and the Twelve Villages Leisure Agriculture Area—a free shuttle service for the Twelve Villages Line will be available every hour from the first day (January 31) to the fifth day (February 4) of the Lunar New Year. The service runs from Hsinchu Railway Station (Lion Mountain Line) to the Twelve Villages Leisure Agriculture Area, with stops including Fuxing Old Street and the Meimei Giant Buddha, and terminates at the Twelve Villages Leisure Agriculture Area.
