The hard-to-get Planet Factory has moved to New Taipei — with limited-edition wish star rice balls

Remember the popular Instagram-worthy spot “Planet Factory” in Taichung? After wrapping up its exhibition there, Planet Factory has partnered with Global Mall Banqiao Station to bring its star rice balls to New Taipei for the first time during the Christmas and New Year period. Additionally, a Christmas-exclusive, New Taipei-only wish star rice ball has been launched.

At PLANET FACTORY Planet Factory, you can choose a planet that represents you or use food color palettes to pair with delicious rice, creating your own personalized planet specimen and planet rice ice cream. This exhibition has moved to Global Mall Banqiao Station in New Taipei, making its debut during the joyful Christmas season. The art team has themed this artistic creation around WISH (wish), and has crafted New Taipei-exclusive wish star rice balls using star-shaped wish crackers symbolizing wishes, paired with cauliflower, flying fish roe, and natural red beans.

Artist San Chen (Chen Si’an) developed exclusive planet recipes and elemental color palettes based on the natural colors and symbolism of ingredients, inviting participants to choose ingredients that represent themselves. During the previous exhibition in Taichung, reference planet recipes were provided on-site, allowing visitors to follow the recipes to make rice balls resembling Earth, Mars, Venus, etc. However, everyone can still mix and match according to their preferences to create planet rice balls of different flavors. The cost to experience making one is NT$50.
