An estimated 400,000 tourists to flood in！ Kenting’s “Golden Week” during Spring Festival sees traffic controls

With good weather expected during the Spring Festival holiday, the resort destination of Kenting is projected to welcome around 400,000 visitors. To alleviate traffic congestion, local police will implement traffic controls from Lunar New Year’s Day to the fifth day of the lunar new year on Kenting Main Street and surrounding major roads. The Kenting National Park Administration stated that the national park will remain open throughout the holiday period, with visitor centers operating as usual. Patrol officers will also be stationed at five beaches: Baisha, Nanwan, Dawan, Sail Rock, and Yucun Park.

The Kenting National Park Administration pointed out that the Spring Festival holiday is Kenting’s “Golden Week.” As long as the weather is favorable, large crowds of tourists and “seas of cars” are guaranteed to appear. To avoid traffic jams, controls will be put in place on key transportation routes. For southbound traffic, vehicles will be diverted via an alternative route starting in front of Liufu Village in Haikou, Chenggong Township, turning right at the Chenggong Township gas station and continuing southward; for northbound traffic, turn right at the intersection of Hengchun Wuliting and take Provincial Highway 151 toward Baoli and Haikou, then connect to Provincial Highway 26 heading north.

Kenting Main Street, a must-visit spot, experiences high traffic volume. From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., one-way traffic and pedestrian-vehicle separation controls will be enforced, with southbound vehicles diverted to turn right at the Kenting Archway onto Dawan Road heading south.

The Kenting National Park Administration has set up a temporary free parking lot behind the Kenting Archway, and the “Kenting Express” service will increase its frequency during the Spring Festival. The administration advises that those traveling to Kenting for the holiday should try to use public transport as much as possible to avoid traffic jams ruining their trip.
