“Baimi Barrel Fort,” a beloved local sea-viewing spot well-known to Keelung residents, features a vast expanse of green lawn and breathtaking blue ocean scenery. The large circular depression and towering white chimney are iconic landmarks here, often chosen as wedding photo backdrops by couples — the views are truly picturesque.

Baimi Barrel Fort is a municipal historic site, located on a hillside on the western side of Keelung Harbor, and is a classic sea-viewing destination in the city. It boasts rare expanses of verdant green turf, along with rows of cycads planted nearby, adding a touch of tropical charm. In summer, sitting on the well-designed benches, the view before you is utterly captivating, with endless blue seas stretching out as far as the eye can see.

Although only four cannon bases remain at Baimi Barrel Fort today, with no cannons in sight, the site remains uniquely charming due to its beautiful scenery. Beside the fort are three tall, upright white chimneys belonging to the nearby Hsinchu Power Plant. Even without cannons to photograph, you can still snap shots of the chimneys, ocean, and greenery to satisfy your photography passion.

Take the “No. 301” Dabai Village bus line from downtown, get off at the Taibai Village terminal stop, enter via the alleyway marked “Taibai Community,” and walk uphill along Lane 37 of Guanghua Road for about 30 minutes to reach the site.
