AirAsia Group establishes Thai AirAsia, with Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport as its base

The AirAsia Group recently announced that its subsidiary—Thai AirAsia X Co. Ltd. (abbreviated as TAAX)—officially received an Air Operator’s Certificate from Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation on February 3, 2014, and appointed Nadda Buranasiri as the new CEO of Thai AirAsia X.
After obtaining the Air Operator’s Certificate, Thai AirAsia X can apply for an operating license and flight time slots. In its first year of operation, Thai AirAsia X plans to lease two Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft, each with 377 seats, from its parent company, and will begin services with Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport as its base.
According to AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X is expected to offer a fly-thru one-stop transfer service connecting Thai AirAsia’s domestic and regional short-haul routes, allowing passengers to reach more destinations viaKuala Lumpur and Bangkok, the two major hubs.
