The "Taiwan Lantern Festival" concludes with a 6-minute fireworks show Taichung to take the reins in 2015

The "2014 Taiwan Lantern Festival" will conclude on the 23rd, and Nantou County Government is calling on the public to seize the last weekend of the festival to visit Zhongxing New Village and enjoy the lanterns. On the night of the closing ceremony, the final "Soaring Dragon Steed" main lantern show will be presented at 10:00 PM, and at 10:03 PM, a 6-minute-long fireworks display will light up the sky, marking a perfect finale to this year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival.
Taking into account the quality of life for local residents and operational costs, this year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival has decided to wind down as scheduled on the 23rd. Starting at 6:30 PM that day, a series of exciting performances including Peking opera, acrobatics, dragon and lion dances will be held.
The adorable "Super Cute Horse" mini lanterns will also be given out starting at 3:00 PM that day at the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, the main entrance of Guanghua Elementary School, opposite Changchun Park, and the multi-purpose classroom of Guangfu Elementary School, limited to 6,000 pieces. The popular "Rural Lantern Area" will see the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau distribute an additional 1,200 limited-edition "Rural Duck Mini Lanterns" at 3:00 PM on the 23rd, with number cards being handed out starting at 2:00 PM to give those who missed out earlier a chance to get one.

Meanwhile, the hosting rights for the "2015 Taiwan Lantern Festival" have officially been awarded to Taichung, with the event set to take place at Taichung’s Wuri High-Speed Rail Station. Considering the immense popularity the Taiwan Lantern Festival attracts every year, holding it in the Wuri High-Speed Rail area will make it more convenient for the public to visit and enjoy the lanterns.
