Head to Singapore this summer vacation—the trendsetters’ must-see “Queen of Polka Dots” Yayoi Kusama exhibition!

Although Yayoi Kusama could not attend the exhibition in person, she expressed her anticipation for it through a video message. She said, “I devote my life to art creation from morning till night every day.” To create works that move people, she strives to infuse her beliefs into her art. “I will keep creating until the end of my life. Even after death, I hope future generations can feel my desire to create, my hope for art, and my passion.”

Eugene Tan, Director of the National Gallery Singapore and one of the curators, noted that while all the exhibits are unique, the “Infinity Mirrored Room” installation offers an immersive experience. Whether you’re a die-hard Kusama fan or not, you can sense her creativity and worldview—it’s definitely worth seeing.

Tokyo’s National Art Center, Roppongi, just concluded the “Yayoi Kusama: My Eternal Soul (わが永远の魂)” exhibition on May 22. According to Kusama fan Yuki, the difference between the two exhibitions is that Tokyo’s focused more on flat paintings, whereas Singapore’s features more three-dimensional sculptures and interactive exhibits using mirrors and lights, offering visitors different kinds of enjoyment beyond simply viewing the artworks.
