Easing Crowd Pressure During the 228 Holiday: Additional Trains Added on the Alishan Forest Railway

The Alishan Forest Railway Administration stated that to manage the surge in passengers during the 228 holiday period, additional passenger trains will be operated on specific dates. On February 28, one additional round-trip Alishan train will be added; on March 1 and March 2, one additional round-trip Zhongxing train (an air-conditioned local express train without assigned seating) will be added each day. Reservations for the Alishan train on February 28 are fully booked—please make use of the Zhongxing trains on March 1 and 2. Detailed departure times are as follows:

I. Date: February 28 (Friday) – One additional round-trip Alishan train:
1. Upbound (to the mountain): (Train No. 3) Departs Chiayi Station at 09:30, arrives at Fenchihu Station at 11:50.
2. Downbound (to the city): (Train No. 4) Departs Fenchihu Station at 13:30, arrives at Chiayi Station at 15:50.

II. Dates: March 1 (Saturday) and March 2 (Sunday) – One additional round-trip Zhongxing train (an air-conditioned local express train without assigned seating) each day:
1. Upbound (to the mountain): (Train No. 311) Departs Chiayi Station at 08:30, arrives at Fenchihu Station at 10:50.
2. Downbound (to the city): (Train No. 312) Departs Fenchihu Station at 13:30, arrives at Chiayi Station at 15:50.

III. For the additional Zhongxing trains on March 1 and 2, total passenger numbers will be controlled for safety and passenger comfort. The passenger limits are as follows: Chiayi Station 120 people, Beimen Station 20 people, Zhushan Station 20 people, Jiaoliping 20 people, non-staffed stations combined 60 people, totaling 240 people. Zhongxing train tickets will be sold on the day of travel. At Chiayi Station, number cards will be distributed starting at 07:00, and ticket sales begin at 07:30—each number card allows purchase of up to 4 tickets. Tickets at other stations will go on sale during operating hours starting at 08:00, and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached.
