Last updated 2026-09-24 — Shark Bite Toast expanded rapidly last year, with several new branches popping up in Kaohsiung alone. Each location was doing brisk business, and some even had lines at opening. Last year was truly their golden year. Perhaps with more branches now spreading out the crowd, there's no need to queue anymore, and almost every visit guarantees a seat—making us eager to give it a try.

Shark Bite Toast expanded rapidly last year, with several new branches popping up in Kaohsiung alone. Each location was doing brisk business, and some even had lines at opening. Last year was truly their golden year. Perhaps with more branches now spreading out the crowd, there's no need to queue anymore, and almost every visit guarantees a seat—making us eager to give it a try.

Located inside the Global New Zuoying Station, the semi-open space makes the area feel more spacious. Since there were available seats, my husband and I decided to have lunch here.

The venue is quite large and comfortable. Due to station constraints, only simple wallpaper decor is on the walls, keeping the overall look clean and minimalist. The ceiling in the dining area features a postmodern style with exposed pipes—an unusual touch.

The staff promptly brought over the menu and lemon water to quench our thirst. This place is famous for its pancakes and creative toast—options include fruit pancakes, ice cream pancakes, etc., priced between NT$120 and NT$180.

Creative toast also comes in fruit flavors, priced between NT$150 and NT$180.

There’s a wide selection of drinks, including coffee frappes, hot coffee, and teas, all around NT$100.

Fruit frappes and ice cream are also available, all within the NT$100 range.

In the end, we chose the grilled red sauce bratwurst thick-cut toast. This option comes with a drink, so we picked a hot milk tea, plus an extra order of the signature pesto cream cheese thick-cut toast.

Lunch and dinner prices listed are for à la carte items. For an extra NT$50, you can upgrade to a set meal and choose one of the following: papaya milk, black coffee, or a seasonal soup.

Breakfast looks amazingly cheap, but we arrived after 11:45 AM and couldn’t order it—maybe next time.

The signature pesto cream cheese thick-cut toast is NT$110. When the staff brought it out, we were shocked—it was such a huge portion. Chips are common, but this portion was massive. The thick-cut toast was equally impressive, with its generous fillings. Even when cut in half, it remained super filling, and the chips were practically overflowing. It was incredibly satisfying.

It was our first time trying toast with pesto spread. Not only that, but there was also a generous amount of lettuce, a thickly fried egg, and a slice of butter. Holding it, we weren’t sure where to start, so we pressed it down a bit to make it easier to eat. The basil aroma and salty flavor made the toast delicious even without toasting. The combination of egg, lettuce, and butter really hit the spot, and the generous portion made it great value for money.

The grilled red sauce bratwurst thick-cut toast (NT$199, includes a hot milk tea). Compared to the pesto version, this one was less impressive. However, it came with salad and fruit, leaning more toward a healthy option. It used the same thick toast, topped with cheese for a crispy finish—likely appealing to cheese lovers.

The fruit salad included bananas, pineapple, tomato slices, with some cucumber and lettuce for balance. The portion was moderate, and a half-grilled grapefruit added a nice pop of color, preventing the plate from looking too plain.

It was our first time eating grapefruit this way. Though a spoon was provided, scooping the flesh was tricky—the juice was the only thing we could easily extract. Oh, and there were sugar crystals around the cut edge. Though sparse, they stood out even more against the tartness of the grapefruit.

The grilled red sauce thick-cut toast contained about two German sausages and some hot dog-like pieces. The flavor was decent, but the pesto version left a stronger impression.

The shop’s milk tea impressed us—a lot of foam, smooth texture, and a perfect balance of tea and milk. It wasn’t overly sweet, making it one of the few places where we felt the milk tea was genuinely well-made.

Based on what we ordered that day, we have high praise for the shop. No wonder such affordable, light meals are popular with young people. Even while walking around the station, we overheard several groups discussing Shark Bite Toast.

It’s clear the shop appeals not just to the young but to all ages. To maintain this popularity, it would be even more commendable if they keep up the high food quality. Interested friends should definitely give it a try.
