The luxury boutique brand of InterContinental Hotels Group, Kimpton Hotels, is set to make its official debut in Taiwan ! Targeting the premium Asian traveler market, Malaysia-based D&C Group has teamed up with IHG to establish a high-end hotel and restaurant in Taipei’s Da’an District. A signing ceremony was held in Taipei today (the 13th), with plans to launch in 2018.
Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants was founded in 1981 in San Francisco, USA, and is considered one of the pioneering boutique hotel brands. It is now set to make a significant investment in Taiwan. D&C Group CEO Chang Chia-jung stated: “In Asia, Japan has long been a benchmark for offering travelers high-quality accommodation. Recognizing the potential of the Taiwan market, we aim to introduce a high-standard boutique hotel service, and we do not rule out expanding our presence across Taiwan in the future.”
The hotel will be located in a 14-story luxury residential building in Taipei’s bustling Eastern District SoGo shopping area, with plans to offer 129 guest rooms. The design will be handled by Shanghai-based Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, drawing inspiration from the chaotic yet orderly streetscapes of Taipei to create a luxurious hotel brand that incorporates local Taiwanese character. In addition to the opening of Kimpton Hotel in 2018, the group also plans to introduce its internationally renowned restaurant brands to Taiwan, such as the Michelin-acclaimed Duddell's, 22 Ships, and Aberdeen Street Social, bringing a diverse range of culinary experiences to Taipei.
