China Airlines recruiting 120 domestic pilots — no experience required

This isn’t a flight attendant recruitment drive. China Airlines plans to recruit 120 domestic pilots in 2014, with applications now open. Candidates who have scored 650 or above (with at least 300 in listening) on the TOEIC English proficiency test, or hold an equivalent English qualification, can apply even without flying experience. China Airlines stated that it will soon hold campus recruitment events at over 10 universities and colleges nationwide, and is looking forward to seeing talented individuals take on the challenge.

China Airlines noted that this year it will introduce new aircraft including the Boeing B738, B777, and Airbus A330. In addition, Taiwan Tigerair, in which it holds a stake, is set to begin operations in the second half of the year. The airline hopes to bring in fresh talent and accepts applications year-round at any time. As part of the campus recruitment campaign, the first event will be held at National Taiwan University on the 9th, with further recruitment activities planned at institutions such as Tsinghua University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Chiao Tung University, National Chung Cheng University, Tamkang University, Sun Yat-sen University, National Central University, and National Cheng Kung University.

China Airlines reminds applicants that those without flying experience must hold a TOEIC or equivalent English qualification. Candidates applying for the experienced domestic pilot selection, such as self-trained pilots with a commercial pilot license, retired air force pilots, and former civilian airline pilots, must pass a six-stage assessment process before being considered for hiring.

Selected trainee pilots will be sent by China Airlines to professional flight schools abroad for 10 to 12 months of basic flight training. Upon returning to Taiwan, they will continue with 1 year of civil aviation pre-service training and aircraft type training.
