No need to travel far for snowscapes！ The silvery-white world of Hehuan Mountain feels like the far north.

After several heavy snowfalls in the high mountains, Hehuan Mountain has turned into a silver-white wonderland. Seeing friends rush up to Hehuan Mountain, I couldn’t help but feel envious. Unable to contain my excitement, I really wanted to go—go—go！ I quickly dug out the snow chains I’d stored for seven or eight years. My goodness！ They were still in perfect condition！

I practiced attaching the snow chains right there in the garage. Thinking about the snow, I was super excited！！ I quickly ordered two pairs of simple “snow traction aids” online, prepared my hiking boots, cold-weather clothing... Everything was ready except for the right weather—I just had to wait for the skies to clear...

After the Spring Festival, strong cold fronts and cold air masses hit one after another, and Hehuan Mountain and Wuling continued to receive snowfall. The Hehuan Highway remained icy in many places, so those wanting to go up the mountain to enjoy the snow had to fit snow chains. I had bought a set of snow chains seven or eight years ago and practiced fitting them at home… But this time, I didn’t end up needing them.

The most beautiful snowscapes are seen when the weather clears after a snowfall. Early in the morning, I rushed to the Wuling Parking Lot on Hehuan Mountain. There were almost no other sightseers—just a couple of scattered groups. It felt like entering a deep mountain retreat. Seeing the endless white before me made me incredibly happy～


The trailhead to Hehuan Mountain’s main peak is located at the 29.5 km mark on Provincial Highway 14A. Driving all the way to the main peak takes about 30 minutes to reach the summit.


Today’s weather was great—blue skies, white clouds, and bright sunshine. Even in the frigid snowy landscape, the UV rays are still strong, making it easy to get sunburned on your skin and in your eyes. It’s best to wear sunglasses and take proper sun protection and warmth measures.


When traveling in snowy areas, it’s recommended to bring warm clothing (preferably windproof and water-resistant), a warm hat that covers your ears, a scarf, sunglasses, trekking poles, and shoes with anti-slip spikes (like snow traction aids), waterproof gloves (so your hands don’t freeze while playing in the snow), hot water (in a thermos), food, or chocolate.

When climbing in snowy terrain, it’s still best to take it step by step. Even with snow traction aids, you should be careful to avoid slipping. Your pace will slow down, but on the plus side, it gives you more time to admire the snowy scenery. About halfway up the mountain, we were already surrounded by breathtaking mountain views.




Winter on Hehuan Mountain is incredibly quiet—you can only hear your own breathing, the crunch of snow underfoot, and the snow-draped rivers and mountain landscapes before you.

It had been years since I’d last seen such deep snow. I was overjoyed！ I slipped my hiking boots into the snow, scooped up a handful of fine powder, rolled it into a ball in my palm, and started building a snowman...


As we walked and played, we arrived at an observation platform. Looking down, the world below was a glistening silver expanse. Shivering while taking photos is totally normal—it’s definitely not alcohol poisoning or altitude sickness, haha！


“Some say hiking is the best time to have a conversation with yourself.” There’s plenty of time for introspection... Struggling, cursing, complaining, losing confidence—but I think the pain and doubt are all very much worth savoring and reflecting on.

Walking along the trails of Hehuan Mountain feels like stepping into another world, where the soul begins to unfold...




From December to March, during the snow season on Hehuan Mountain, the snow-capped peaks are battered by cold winds and fluttering snowflakes. Brief winter sunlight makes the frost-covered bamboo glisten crystal-clear, while snow-viewing visitors add lively energy to the silver-white world.



You don’t have to go abroad to enjoy such stunning snowscapes in Taiwan. For people who live or work long-term in cities—amid crowded, noisy environments and the pressures of competition—this is a rare moment of peaceful respite.


I love the highland scenery and the cool air, as well as the breathtaking beauty that leaves you in awe.




A world of silver.



Enjoying the snow under the sunlight doesn’t feel too cold. Slopes and roads covered in white create a silver-white wonderland, where people bravely play in the snow, having snowball fights and enjoying themselves immensely despite the chill.


The strong cold wind and blinding sun form a contrast, but they don’t stop me from heading to Hehuan’s main peak. This trip means a lot to me—it’s the ultimate test of my foot speed and stamina one year later.


An ice-covered land isn’t always entirely white. Tall, slender conifers stand resilient against the harsh winter...

While taking photos, watching sunlight filter through the delicate snowdrifts and refract into sparkling brilliance fulfilled all my hopes for snow-viewing (wiping away tears).


The view from the summit of Hehuan’s main peak makes you want to stay a little longer～

The joy of seeing and enjoying snow on Hehuan Mountain for the first time is as beautiful as wildflowers blooming everywhere. It also feels like escaping the hustle and bustle. Though a bit lonely, it brings even more inner peace～




The beauty of Hehuan Mountain features distinct color layers—the deep blue sky is so magnificent it sparks boundless imagination. Through skillful photography, it showcases the vibrant and moving alpine scenery. That’s the charm of Hehuan Mountain！





Lying in the soft snow under the sunlight feels incredibly beautiful and happy (there’s a small orange thing under my shoe—that’s a cleat cover [snow traction aid], which is essential on snowy or icy surfaces, whether walking or playing snowball fights. Its excellent grip is highly recommended！)



 
When you see beautiful scenery, you forget how tired you are, [illegible text] the feeling of being immersed in nature is truly indescribable.



On Hehuan Mountain, not only is the ultraviolet radiation very strong—making it easy to get sunburned on your skin and in your eyes—it’s best to wear sunglasses and take proper sun protection measures. When walking toward the main peak of Hehuan Mountain, not only is the air thin, making every step leave you breathless, but you also have to stop and catch your breath after walking just a short distance.





This is the most unique and highest telecommunications tower on Hehuan Mountain.


Blue sky, white clouds, bright sunshine, and the vast expanse of snow all around—after spending nearly an hour and a bit to reach the main peak of Hehuan Mountain, it felt incredibly rewarding!


You don’t need to go abroad to enjoy such stunning snowy landscapes; Taiwan offers them too, and you definitely can’t miss the snow scenery on Hehuan Mountain.



Experiencing the beauty of the high mountains has no shortcuts—just be willing to take it step by step, and the beautiful views will be right before your eyes.








The breathtaking view is real—and no, this isn’t abroad, it’s Taiwan.



After crossing over a mountain ridge, the Hehuan Mountain range covered in snow is truly gorgeous, and the entire landscape is spectacular.






We lingered here for quite a while and really didn’t want to leave, and before we knew it, our energy had returned.





















After strolling around the snow-blanketed Hehuan Mountain for a morning, the sunshine kept us from feeling too cold, but there was always this strong urge to head back—perhaps because our growling stomachs were getting harder to ignore...








Climbing to the main peak of Hehuan Mountain, the area isn’t actually very big—walking around takes about half an hour—but taking photos, enjoying the scenery, and exploring slowly still took up nearly the whole morning.
