Alishan National Scenic Area sets up no-smoking signs; fines of at least NT$2,000 from April 1st for violations

The Alishan National Scenic Area Administration announced on the 20th that the no-smoking signs have been fully installed. The administration stated that starting April 1st, smoking will be completely prohibited in the Chukou Visitor & Administration Center area and the Niupuzai Rest Area of the Alishan National Scenic Area, except in designated smoking zones.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, starting April 1st, smoking is not allowed in national parks, national nature parks, scenic areas, and forest recreation areas except in designated smoking zones; areas without designated smoking zones are considered completely non-smoking.

The Alishan Administration stated that preparations for planning and setting up smoking zones have been completed. Each smoking zone is equipped with ashtrays and signage as required, and visitors are urged to cooperate.
